Mirror Mirror On The Wall …
As I shaved this morning I saw the reflection of a man I no longer know. I saw a man that has grown old and weak. I saw the shell of a man once proud and strong. A beaten old man willing to “go along to get along”. And I thought to myself; mirror mirror on the wall…
I watched in utter amazement as President Bush pretended to chastise the people of China for human rights abuse. Does the President of the United States ever look in the mirror? Does he daily practice his chant: mirror mirror on the wall…
When and if he does look in the mirror does the Vice President really answer him: you are Mr. President, you are …
When was the last time that we as a nation looked into that magical mirror? What did we see? Was the reflection of a proud nation following the guiding light of our forefathers?
OR, was the refection corrupt? Did we see the great leaders of this nation mislead the public and the world? Did we see the great leaders of this nation, time and time again, fall short of the moral ethics we as a nation expect of our leaders; mirror mirror on the wall, who is the most corrupt of them all? You are Mr. President, you are.
I now recall that not so long ago we as a nation did look into the mirror and decided to change the image reflected in that mirror of reality. The citizens spoke with a thunderous roar and handed the mirror to Ms. Pelosi. Once elected Ms. Pelosi looked into the mirror and asked; mirror mirror on the wall, who is the most powerful and corrupt of them all? And the mirror spoke thus: President Bush is the most powerful and corrupt!
So Ms. Pelosi and all those that would follow her decided to change the reflection. But the reflection refused to change. Once more the citizens looked into the mirror and what they saw they decided to accept.
They saw a nation that is tired and worn thin from corruption. A nation that is no longer willing to accept the role of world moral leadership. A nation that is old and weak because its leaders are old and weak. A nation that is unwilling to put forth the effort it takes to create and grow a free and moral nation.
As the nation looked into the mirror, it asked: mirror mirror on the wall, who is the most powerful and corrupt of them all? And the mirror answered: You are Mr. Citizen, you are.
