The Key To Understanding Broad Market Behavior

Internet Marketers who are looking to capitalize on a niche market will generally focus on one sub category of that particular market and run with it. While niche marketing is good, this does not mean that you shouldn’t pay attention to the broad market as a whole. Understanding what drives the market and what direction the trends are leading to will make it that more possible for you to succeed.

What Is The Big Picture?

Understanding the current status of your chosen markets means you have to first identify the current economic variables. There can be many factors that you should look for but I suggest focusing on:

How is business in your broad market?
What does the Federal Reserve Board think?
Is there a somewhat predictable cycle determining production and consumer spending?
What sectors are doing well?
What sectors are lagging?

You know that you want to be a niche marketer, everything on the Internet suggests that this is the best route to take.  But how do you decide what niche to pick?

One thing that I did was research on what consumers were most interested in concerning my broad niche of Internet Marketing.  A good resource that I found for this was www.score.org.  Trolling forums and focus groups in your market area is also an invaluable tool, I especially like www.seomoz.org.  Another thing you can do if you are lucky enough to have an opt-in list is to send out emails to your list and ask them what they wanted to learn more about.  If you do not already have a list your main goal would be to build a general prospects list, perhaps several and ask them questions.  Run more than one list at a time and compare the results.  What do they have in common?  This is where you should live.  Building lists is a science unto itself and not covered in this article but you can find more information at http://www.bizwaremagic.com/opt-in.htm.

Once you get that data:

Size Up The Niche Market

Every day you before you do anything in regard to your business you should take a look at what the market is doing.  Find out where the trends are pointing in the broad market as well as your niche of that market.

If you already have a list that we spoke about above; ask them what they want and need, and begin to fill those needs.

Go With What Is Working

Once you find out the most prevalent trends, go with the flow.  It is easier to be a success if you don’t have to reinvent the wheel.  Unless you have a product or service that is genuinely unique do what others are doing that works and then work on doing it better.  You can work out your uniqueness once the revenue is coming in.  How to know what is working?  Check out http://www.expansionplus.com/news/index.php for internet marketing news.  Whatever the case, the main thing you want to remember is to refocus your efforts often if not on a daily basis.  You must keep up to date and educated about your chosen market in order to just survive.  It take much effort and serious work to become a winner.

Why Google Groups Are Important To Marketing

One of the most powerful tools for marketing on the internet today is Google.  Many startup internet businesses are aware of Google monetizers such as adsense for content, search, and referral but aren’t aware of the flip side of this coin.  The flip side being those that actively advertise to promote traffic and revenue.

If you plan to advertise with this popular method then you should be aware of what you are getting into.

Advertising

You can advertise to people searching on Google and their advertising network, reach people who are actively looking for information about your products and services online.  You can easily control costs because you pay only when people click on your ad.  Shop around before you commit, there are many other ways out there to advertise and many other advertisers that will gladly take your money.  Take a look at JumpFly.Com or Snap.Com.

Business Solutions

Enhance your website.  Accept Google Checkout on your website to convert more customers and lower your transaction processing costs.  This can help lower cost and save time by letting Google do all the processing for you. One company that has a similar solution is Hyperion Solutions.  Remember to look before you leap.  Just because a company is well known or say they can get the job done doesn’t make it so.

Analytics

Use easy-to-understand visually enhanced reports to help you make profit-generating improvements to your website.  These reports include, Search for your website and Web Search and Site Search which provides Google search results to users who want to search the web or just your website.  Personally I think that Digg is better than Google at this but check it out for your self.  Put some feelers out and ask around in a few forums, neutral ones.  Read this article for more information  Better Than Google Analytics

Increase your productivity

Enhance your business productivity with Google enterprise solutions for search, collaboration, and geo-spatial applications.
Find information in your organization.  Help your employees find information faster with integrated desktop, corporate network and web search.  I don’t know of anything else but I have read that  ZDNet.com is giving Google a run for their money and have a friendlier interface.

Communicate better with Google Apps

Get private-labeled Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Talk accounts, plus collaboration and publishing tools. No hardware or software required.  Share documents and spreadsheets online.  You and your colleagues can collaborate on projects in real time from anywhere.  Add the power of Google’s mapping and 3D visualization technologies to your business applications.  Usurpers to the title of who has the better apps are Netvibes and EditGrid, keep your eyes open for these two.

Webmaster Central

This is Google’s one-stop shop for comprehensive info about how Google crawls and indexes websites. You can learn here how to ensure that your site is easily crawled and indexed and access tools that will enable you to diagnose crawling issues, study statistics on how your site is doing in their index, and tell them how you’d like your site to be crawled and indexed.
The Site status wizard will help you find out whether your site is currently being indexed by Google.  This is the most popular and the most used so use it.  Google is the big dog on the block for a reason.

Google’s blog for webmasters

The Google blog will keep you up to date on what Google is currently working on.  You can also get the latest news and info on how Google crawls and indexes websites, Webmaster tools (including Sitemaps), Statistics, diagnostics and management of Google’s crawling and indexing of your website, including Sitemap submission and reporting.  If you wholeheartedly subscribe to everything Google then you should be reading the Google blog.  It’s an informative read.

Google’s discussion group for webmasters

Talk with your fellow webmasters and share your feedback with them and also    submit your content to Google while learning about submitting content for Google properties such as Google Base and Google Book Search.  Submitting your content means to submit your url for indexing and crawling by Google the Google spider.  Google Base is a place to which you can easily submit all types of online and offline content, which Google will host and make searchable online.  The discussion group works hand in hand with the blog.  If you do one it wouldn’t really make sense not to do the other.

Webmaster help center

See answers to frequently asked questions about crawling, indexing, ranking and other webmaster issues.  I know I go here often.  Since Google is the top ranker, you should be aware of how to optimize your site for them.  The Webmaster Help Center can answer many if not all of your Google related questions.

In Closing

Google’s suite of webmaster tools provides you with a free and easy way to help improve your site’s visibility in our search results.  Whether you’re a large book publisher or a small press, sign up for the Google Books Partner Program and help users discover your book on Google.  If you create video content either professionally or as a hobby, Google Video provides a free platform for people to search, preview, and play your video.  Create your own targeted ads using AdWords. With credit card payment, you can see your ad on Google today.  Publish ads that match your content, help visitors find related products and services - and maximize your ad revenue.  Reduce support costs, keep users on your site longer, and turn browsers into buyers with the Google Search Appliance or Google Mini.

How To Use Basic Internet Marketing Strategy

Many Internet business owners know that marketing is the key factor in determining the success or failure of  their online business but choose to ignore this area or minimize the importance of it.  One could assume that they just don’t really care, which begs the question:  Why are they in business?  The alternative and more reasonable assumption would be that they just lack the knowledge of how to use what they already know.  This article will give show you different ways to incorporate the knowledge you probably didn’t even know you had into your marketing strategy.

Develop content

The first thing that you will need to do to get your business off to a good start, whether it is a new business or one that has been around for a while, is to create great content.  Content is what the internet and the world is all about, marketing wise.  Information sells itself as well as everything else.  Write about what you know and make it as informational as you can.  Try to make you content as error free as possible.  Don’t try to sell anything, just give information.  If the information is useful, traffic will eventually flock to your site via word of mouse.  If you can not develop your own content, get someone to develop it for your.  There are a scores of freelances out there waiting to give you a hand.

Be persistent

Many new and veteran business owners alike give up too soon.  Don’t make this mistake.  Everything takes time, especially results that lead to cash flow.  Don’t believe the quick riches hype that is so prevalent on the net.  Becoming a success takes real honest work, and plenty of it.  If you work for yourself, figure on working at least 12 to 16 hours per day, if your lucky.  Just because you don’t see results immediately is no reason to give up on your marketing strategy.  Realistically, you should invest at least six months to a year to any given campaign.  Stick it out, the rewards are well worth the struggle.

Alternate your tactics

Your marketing strategy should have a strong foundation, content, but should also be focused in just more than one area.  Below are my suggestions for alternating tactics that should be included in any internet marketing campaign.  Don’t just use some of them, use them all and use them often.

Banner advertising
Text link advertising
Run an affiliate program
Online press release
Article marketing
Forums and Newsgroups
Email marketing
Blogging
Analyze the Competition
Designing Effective Websites
Search Engine Optimization
Business Stationery
Exchange Links
Customer Service
E-mail Newsletters

Use your metrics

Metrics is just a term to say count, statistics, information.  Your metrics are the ways in which you get information in regard to how well your marketing strategy is working.  Every business is different yet similar in that they need to have a way to understand what works, and why.  Develop a system of metrics so that you can determine what is working in your campaign and then, keep doing it.  What is left may not be working, yet, but you should definitely do less of it until you see a undeniable need.  The more you understand what exactly is going on behind the scenes the more success you will have in achieving your marketing goals.

Keep learning

Never stop learning, especially about your business.  One of the major mistakes of any type of business owner is the assumption that they know all that they need to know about their particular business or field to stay in a lucrative business loop.    This is a huge mistake.  Everything changes in some way over time, this is especially true for business and its related practices even if it may not seem evident.  If your business is good enough for you to run then it is good enough for you to continue learning about.  This can only benefit you financially and is a positive step towards continued personal growth.  Make it a habit to set aside time to learn about the aspects of your business that you  know the least about.  Develop a schedule and stick to it.

Marketing strategy can and will become extremely convoluted if you allow them to.  My final advice is that whatever you choose to do, keep it as simple as possible, honest, and make sure that it shows integrity.

How To Gear Up Your Network

The art of Networking is a key ability for any type of entrepreneur.  Networking can bring you important information as well as give others important information about you.  As an aspiring or current business owner, networking should be an area of interest of prime importance to you and the future of you business.  For those of us working via the internet only, the concept of networking becomes at the same time daunting and almost hilariously easy.  Just point and click.  You can even get software to help you contact people you want to network with.  Personally I like to do most things manually, to get a feel for the project at hand.

If you don’t understand why networking is so important to business survival, then I suggest you do some research.  You will be amazed at the potential inherent in the simple act of getting to know someone, in your line of business or not.  For the Internet Marketer, networking is a matter of survival.  You either do it or your business will die.  It’s that simple.  This article will focus on some of the ways to gear up your network to keep it ever changing and expanding.  Networking never stops and using your network should become a daily practice.  An old network is outdated and next to useless but an unused network is just a waste of time and possibly money.

EMAIL

Email is one of the easiest ways to network on line, just don’t abuse it.  If you are an internet marketer as all internet business people should be, your opt-in list is an invaluable source to network with and not just a means by which to promote your product.  Promote yourself first, your product will eventually sell through word of mouse.  You should make it a consistent goal to contact everyone on your contact list at least once a month.  Let them know about what is going on with you and tell them something of interest that falls in line with their personality, likes and dislikes.  Don’t sell, hard or soft, just connect.  This will give you the opportunity to prove that you are sincere in your relationship and that the relationship is not one sided.  If you can give them something free by all means do so.  A free report or gift can go a long way when nothing is asked for in return.

CHAT ROOMS

Chat rooms should be handled slightly different.  You actually have to do some work to get to know people.  Getting to know a person generally has the effect of making you either like them or dislike them.  Regardless of the outcome, you will have the chance to know a community and allow them to get to know you.  Be yourself, take your time and before you know it you will have found at least a handful of people with whom you share interest, ideals, and goals.  That handful will be able to help you immensely sometime in the future when you need to spread the word about your product.  Don’t go into this thinking that you are only getting to know people for the end result of selling.  Try to honestly make friends and associates.  People can tell when your faking it, it just takes time.

I won’t add a section about forums since basically they are a slower version of a chat room.  Handle them the same.  Just like a chat room though, you have to be consistent.  People are watching through virtual eyes.  Be real.

CONFERENCES/AND GROUPS

Conferences and groups offer you a way to not only get to know people but to get to know people who are extremely involved in the same type of things that you are and who most likely have similar if not almost identical goals.  Don’t forget, we are talking about online conferences and groups.  You can attend many more this way because they are only an url away.  Learn from them and connect with as many people as you can.  For each contact you make therein lies the possibility to make ten more.  Choose wisely in what conferences and/or groups that you become a part of because they will expect you to participate and give back equally.  If you do not then this too is another waste of time.

HELP OTHERS

Finally, understand the whole point of networking is to help.  This means that you will help people as well as them helping you.  Your Internet Marketing Campaigns will not succeed by you effort alone.  We all work together even if the proof in this is not readily seen.  Plan your networking and have a concrete idea where you want it to lead, what you want the end result to be.  Decide how you can help before you ask for help.  If you do all of these things you should have the makings of a massive network and when it is all said and done, the makings of massive profits.  After all, that’s what were here for.

How To Beat The Internet Blues

In experiencing the Internet and trying to do business there, I have learned a lot of things. I have learned terminology, HTML, coding (just a bit) and my favorite, Internet Marketing. By no means am I finished learning, I have just begun.

Even though I have been using the net and learning on the net for over a decade I am still a newbie. I have recently begun and slashed business ideas and formats because of what I call the ‘Internet Blues’.

The Internet Blues comes from working hard, learning hard and basically having a hard time dealing with a lack of immediate results. Like a lot of people in my sphere of influence, I am impatient. I am used to dealing with the real world per se and can do business there just fine. The Internet however is a completely different animal even if it shares similar dynamics. What I have learned here could fill several books on what and what not to do and yet I often feel as if I know nothing.

I have found that for me, this feeling of stupidity comes from being or allowing myself to be overwhelmed. Remember, even though the Internet may be fun, it is also a vast resource and a tool with power that has changed society, for the better I believe.

Currently I am writing about my love of Internet Marketing and have found myself to be less than enthusiastic at times due to my lack of immediate traffic. I also would like to make money but that comes as a result of being good and informative in my writing. To be honest, I know better because no real time has passed but the Internet Blues does not care. I have determined that I will stay the course with my current venture because it will succeed. All I have to do is keep learning and keep trying.

Along with this affirmation comes some tools and affirmations that I have begun to use daily in order to fight off the Internet Blues, If you ever find your self in this predicament, I hope you use them and that they come in handy.

Affirmation #1

I can achieve my goals because I have the ability to achieve them.

Tool #1

Look at what has been accomplished and not at what has failed, then relish them for what they are and move on.

Affirmation #2

I am not alone in my endeavors, there is help to be had.

Tool #2

Talk about what is going on with like minded people who can help and not criticize.

Affirmation #3

Everything takes time.

Tool #3

Work on patience, this also takes time. Eventually you will get better.

Affirmation #4

I will not give up no matter what.

Tool #4

Persistence. Try again. Modify what you have tried until it works.

Power Affirmation

I am the King.

Power Tool

Strut your stuff. This is intended to make light of the situation. Levity and laughter can break the foulest moods.

So there you have it, my way to break the cycle of the Internet Blues. It works for me the majority of the time and it might work for you. You should come up with some affirmations and tools of your own. If they don’t work combine your affirmations and tools with something you love and a little bit of time. I like to write hence this article. This reminds me of my tools and affirmations and also gives me a venue to express myself honesty.

In the time it took me to write this short article/essay, I have learned more about myself that will help me achieve my goals and demand more realistically of myself. If you come up with some great universal affirmations and tools, I would sure like to know about them, we Internet Blues’ers need all the help we can get.

What Does Your Marketing Message Say?

What message are you sending out to the public concerning your online presence? Are you to the right, the left or on the fence concerning the topics that you support or don’t support? This article deals with the importance of the messages we send in regards to business, especially online business. Many times in order to make that next bit of profit, many Internet business people will throw out the message that they think the masses want to hear, never knowing that this is a detrimental move for their business if it does not coincide with the larger picture of where they are trying to take their venture.

The long term success of any business, online or not depends on how it is perceived, not only by its targeted clientele but also by the people affected by this target group. You may have the greatest product in the world but without the proper message supporting it, the product will be doomed to failure. This article will go into some of the major aspects involved in creating the proper message that are foundational, regardless of product, price, advertising, or marketing. With all of the schemes and scam’s on the market today, the following outlined aspects of a lasting message are what is being looked for and at with scrutiny.

Honesty

The concept of honesty seems simple until you mix in the prospect of money, then something strange begins to happen. This something strange is usually called greed. The ugly green eyed monster. The greatest campaign and product will fail if there is no honesty inherent in it’s marketing strategy. Let’s think about this. I need a widget for whatever reason. Company A sells the exact widget that Company B sells. Lets say that widget A and B are identical in every respect. This means function, color, weight, size and price. In this scenario, what makes one widget outsell the other? The marketing of course. And what differences in marketing can you create if the products are exactly alike? Well, the only thing you could really do is say that one outperforms the other but then you would have to think up a fabrication to make this seem plausible.

Consumers are not the sheep that many in the marketing industry think that they are. Discriminating buyers abound. It would only be a matter of time for false claims to cause one widget to outsell the other. Honesty is key. You may get away with the lie today but only at the expense of future sales. When marketing any product, you should first believe in it, otherwise, either don’t sell or endorse it. The trap that a lot of entrepreneurs fall into is the selling of mass products they know nothing about in the hopes that even if it is not a great product they can sell it through sheer marketing alone. This may work for a time but the time is definitely limited.

Integrity

Integrity like respect is earned. No one will trust you past a certain point, that point being their bank account, unless you have integrity. That integrity can only come from building a reputation for honesty and fair dealing. Now I am sure that a lot of people buy things without having any sense of the honesty or integrity that is behind what they just bought. We all do this from time to time. Sometimes, not often, we are even amazed that we actually got a good deal. Most often than not we are displeased with our purchase. There are many consumers who fall into this category. Have you ever heard the term compare shop? If not then this is what it means. Don’t buy the first thing that looks good. There is usually something better. Also, an implied tactic of compare shopping is to ask around. Ask others who have bought the product what they think of it. Word or mouth, email, or post can skyrocket a products sales. Just imagine, Honest, Integrity and a good product!

Dependability

Dependability is important in sending your marketing message. This means dependability of your product, company, promises, customer service and customer help. The list goes on. What your customer wants to know is now since they have helped you make a buck, will you be there to help them and support your product when they eventually, and they will, have a problem with it. For a marketing, salesperson, anybody in business, being dependable can mean the difference between going out of business and repeat customers. Repeat customers can equal referred customers. And the customers just keep on coming. It’s called networking, something all businesses need to survive. Remember what ever you say about you, your product and your business, make sure that it can be depended upon. If you want to stay in business, make sure that you become known first and foremost as the go to person that people can count on. You will never be sorry, I promise.

Trust

Imagine being in a position in your business where you have established a reputation of honesty, integrity and dependability. Your customers know that they can trust you with their hard earned money. What would you do. Believe it or not, many in this situation would recognize that they are trusted and act accordingly. On the other hand, this is a dangerous point in the life cycle of any business. The possibility exist that a trust gained could be betrayed. Example: We all have hardships whether rich, or poor, employer or employee. A company or business person going through such a hardship could be tempted to use their position of trust to foist off products to their trusting and now willing clientele. Don’t let this be you. Make it a point to always keep the trust you gain, no matter if it is personal or business. Trust is invaluable.

In a situation where your customers trust you is a situation where you should be giving back to them, to reciprocate, in return for their patronage. In good times or ill, always treat the customer well. Send the constant message that you will not fail them. Do not bite the hand that feeds you. You don’t have to be a Mister Goody Two Shoes, one shoe will do just fine. Your customers don’t expect you to be perfect but they do demand to be treated perfectly. If not, your revenue will drop just as quickly as it rose.

Benefits

Giving benefits, even conditional ones to your customers is a powerful marketing strategy. Everyone like something that is free, for the most part. Your marketing strategy should always have a benefit included. Buy one get one free. Give credit towards a future purchase. There are many ways to include an added benefit to get a potential customer to buy and keep buying. Lets face it, buying and selling is the name of the game. Buy or sell until your heart is content. Just remember, make sure that regardless of which side of the sale you are on, there should be a benefit, for everyone.

Price

This is probably the simplest part of your marketing message that you will have to deal with, in a sense. The best product does not always win out. More likely it will be the cheapest one. Keep this in mind when pricing what you are marketing with just enough added to make your profit. I said profit, not a killing. You will not get rich off of one, a hundred, or even a thousand sales where the product is costly. The number one reason for this is that most of us just can’t afford it. Putting your product in a high category such as this will limit your marketing strategy as well as you potential income. Play with the prices until they seem just right. Use your marketing metrics to determine when you have hit the appropriate price range for what you are selling and then….sell. Make sure to always do it with honesty, integrity, dependability, trust a with benefits.

Conclusion

Nothing is written in stone. If you have a fair to good product and you market it like I have outlined or you use a marketing specialist, there still is no guarantee. The only guarantee you will get from using this strategy is that in the end, your morals and ethics will be intact. If you have no morals or have read this article and think that your marketing plans can do without a little humanity then by all means, sell. I can also guarantee that you won’t be in business long if you stick to your guns. Marketing is about Psychology. Sure there are many fancy words, techniques and strategies but in the end it is simply about giving people what they need and want. Make sure your needs and wants don’t clash with theirs and you should be well on you way to being successful.

7 Reasons For Article Reprints

Have you ever wondered why it is that you and view the same article over and over again on the web in so many different places, forums, and venues?  So did I.  This was before I became inured to the Internet.  The reasons I found were already and are already known to veteran surfers but I had to find the reasons for myself, as you may be doing now.  Maybe you know some of the reasons and are just looking for more.  The number one reason (at least for me) that you see articles reprinted over and over again is because they are well written, informative and usually free.  In this article I will list and briefly explain other reasons for this and why you as an article writer should allow your articles to be reprinted too.

Allowing your article to be reprinted can have many positive benefits for you if in fact benefits are what you are looking for.  Besides the pure joy of writing and being read.  Article reprinting can do wonders for you and catapult you online business sky high.  This is not to say that all you have to do is “write and they will come”.  There are other marketing factors involved but are too broad to cover in this one article.  Let’s take a look at what article reprinting can do for you.  You can reap some of these benefits even if you don’t write but republish content yourself.

DEFINITE EXPOSURE

In order for people to be aware of you, what you do and how you do it you must have some exposure to the people you want to attract.  Writing niche articles can do that for you provide that they are written well, and cover an informational gap that needs to be filled.  Writing on a particular topic, say for instance, Internet marketing, in general, you can fine tune your writing to a particular audience.  Being a writer, I recommend that you write whatever and whenever you want.  Just be sure that when you want to attract a particular type of exposure that you use the most relevant articles and subjects.  If you want to get exposure for yourself or business as a professional in the field of making widget’s you need to write a lot of articles covering everything you know about widget’s.  What you don’t know you should learn and then write about those subjects too.

POSSIBLE TRAFFIC

Exposure from your article writing has a high potential to bring traffic to your Internet site.  Traffic depends on many factors, number one being need (for the topic), followed by plain appreciation and plain curiosity.  People will visit your site just to see what else you have written or what other information you have to offer if they find the articles you write intriguing, informative and well written.  All of these factors need not apply.  Some surfers are just looking for interesting things to read and learn, the same reason why a lot of people read the news papers and other circulations.  If you build it they might not come but if they do they just might continue to do so.

POSSIBLE PROFIT

According to your purpose in writing articles many ways of making a profit from them are available.  If you have an internet product or service you can generate traffic to your site with a well written or informative article.  Once the traffic begins, you have the opportunity to make a profit.  Hopefully your site or product is capable of turning this traffic and profit into repeat traffic and profit.  If your site or product is not set up to do this then you should start revamping now.  One way to do this is to make products or service interconnected, upgrade able or benefit offering past a certain buy level.  If you sell refillable pens you should also sell the ink.  Perhaps the pen could have attachments that could make it better but are not included in a basic purchase.  Best of all, offer your clients a free or reduce price bonus if they spend a set amount with you on a single or variety of products.  The possibility of making a profit is all up to you from the onset of business but is even more critical when you begin to get real traffic.  Make sure that your visitors like what they see, make them want to see more.  If you can do this consistently, your profit margin will soar beyond belief.

BECOME AN AUTHORITY

Writing niche articles has a side benefit that seems to work exponentially on the Internet, if your articles are good and helpful.  After writing  a few articles (a hundred or less), you may find your traffic exploding and your article reprinted all over the netscape.  Why do you think this is?  Well, the most popular reason is that good and great articles that are factual and helpful will create in your readers eyes the impression that you are an authority on your subject.  This is not an all together unfounded concept.  Eventually, if you write enough, do enough research and learn constantly about your chosen niche, you will become an acknowledged expert of sorts.  Sure you may not have a “fancy fandangled” degree to show for your knowledge but what you lack in one type of paper you should be making up for with another type, the spending type.  This is why you should choose you niche carefully.  You don’t want to get pigeon holed into an area of knowledge that you may eventually not be happy with.  Changing niches once you are considered an expert is not as easy as it may seem unless the new niche is logically connected to the first.  If you write about Internet Marketing and become known as the go to person for that subject, you will find it that much harder to be taken seriously if you start writing about Home Decoration.  Become an authority on a subject and all of its related aspects if possible and you should do just fine.  The reason is because the broader your reach the more possibility you have later.  Most fields interconnect somewhere so it may be possible to write about Home Decoration from an Internet Marketing point of view.

INCREASE AWARENESS

Writing is done for personal reasons but the public reason for someone to distribute their writing is to make the general public aware of whatever trend, technology or social consequence that you may be writing about.  Why should you care abut this?  You should care because awareness is key to society and civilization as a whole.  No person is an island and we need each other to survive, believe it or not.  Just as your school teacher increased you awareness, your writing should have the potential to increase the awareness of the public and in return the same will be done for you.  If for no other reason than this, I think that all writing should be reprinted and distributed as much as possible, letting those who want it take it and those who do not leave it be.

SELF APPRECIATION

How do you get self appreciation from people reprinting your articles?  Simple, you do if you value yourself at all.  The act of a person reprinting what you have created can create in you a stronger feeling of self worth.  Reprinting can either let you know how well you are doing or how much you still need to work on.  Either way you will learn valuable information and gain perspective about yourself, what and how you think, and your skill as a writer.  If none your writing ever gets reprinted don’t fret.  This is not a statement that you are no good, only that your writing or subject may need some fine tuning as well as the way you think about and approach your subject.  One of my mottos is “try, try again”, and I didn’t even fully realize it until I wrote it just now.  See what writing can do?  I haven’t even had anything reprinted and already my self esteem and realization are on the rise.

NETWORKING

Allowing your articles to be reprinted as outlined above or by following your own reason can and will result in the creation of a network of people, businesses and organizations centered around you and your work.  Don’t worry, this is a good thing.  A network to call you own is an invaluable resource for anyone and any endeavor, regardless of whether the person is an entrepreneur, netrepreneur or wantrepreneur.  What ever your goals in life or business are, a network will help you achieve them.  Remember, no person is an island.  The bigger the network the not necessarily better.  What counts is that your network can depend on you to do what they have thus far depended on you for and vice versa.  From there the relationship can grow in many different directions  If you want to be a part of my network send me an email at andrewwitherspoon@hotmail.com, subject:  Networking/Article Reprints, body: name, email and a short message.  We can discuss how we can work together to assist each other in achieving our separate or joint goals.  The information of everyone on the list will be sent to everyone else that is on the list each week.  Now that’s networking!

If at the start of this article you were unsure of whether to allow you articles to be reprinted or not, I hope that you are now sure, one way or the other.  If you want me to review an article and post it on my blog just email it to me.  All links will be include as well as images if sent as an attachment.

10 Reasons Why You Need A Marketing Plan

If you are in business you need a marketing plan. General reasons for this conclusion are that.

A marketing plan can help you to achieve a unified and practical approach to your business goals.
A marketing plan will help you to identify the key business points you need to develop in order to influence your customers.
A marketing plan should be able to assist  you in focusing on what your real marketing budget will look like.
A marketing plan can help you to apply reality based learning to achieve profit.

Ten of the most common and more specific reasons for why you need a marketing plan are as follows.

1.    Your targeted customers may not be hearing the message that you are currently sending.
You are always sending a message whether you believe it or not.  Silence speaks volumes in respect to what you think about your product or service.  Your marketing plan can help you develop your voice and your message.  You can join online forums and focus groups to get an idea of the type of message you should be sending based on what your target customers are saying they want to hear.

2.    If you aren’t sending you customers the message that they want to hear you can be sure that someone else is.
You may have a better product than your competition but if no one knows about it no one will buy it.  A marketing plan will help you devise ways to make your message stand out above the shouting of your competitors messages.  Look around to see what your competition is doing and do them one better.  Upgrade and upscale your message to be better and louder than theirs.

3.    The customer is always right.
Developing a marketing plan will help keep you in the mindset of a customer and not a seller.  You have to always try to see from the customers point of view to know what they want in order to know what to pitch and how to pitch it.  You should get in the constant habit of surveying your customers and potential customers to see what the current trend is for them.  Don’t depend on how you feel about your product or service alone, what matters is what the customer thinks and feels.  They are always right generally speaking because they are the hands that feed your business.

4.    You need a marketing plan to be able to plan and execute the plan.
Without a plan you are working blindly in the dark.  Customer strategy planning takes effort and research that will be reflected in how you put together a working plan of action.  Doing business on “the fly” is a rookie mistake that hopefully you will learn from and pull out of if you choose this route.  Your business is your life, plan it carefully every step of the way.

5.    The more you give the more you get.
A well thought out marketing plan will not only be made to benefit your business but your customers as well.  Your plan should  intrinsically be set to the customers needs.  Remember, you are there to service them and as a byproduct you get paid.  If your focus ever shifts from giving to getting your customers will realize this and their loyalty and patronage will shift to your competition.

6.    Being better is better than being good.
While you may have a great product and good PR, a well planned, thought out and researched marketing plan that is well implemented will put you in a league of your own.  Such a plan will make your business and product soar above the crowd.  No longer will your product or business be, okay, it will be fantastic!

7.    If you don’t succeed your dead.
The whole purpose of going into to business is to create a symbiotic relationship with your potential customers.  You sell what they need and they pay you for it.  Simple, right?  Not really.  There are many factors involved in gearing a product campaign up for marketing.  Without out proper planning, that you will get in a marketing plan, you will not have much success.  No success means failure and failure means the end of your business or product life.

8.    Marketing is structured creativity.
Marketing your product or service will be the most creative part of your business.  Attempting to please the maximum amount of consumers to achieve the maximum business benefits takes thinking outside of the box.  Not unlike being an artists, a good marketer has to be innovative and cutting edge without giving up structure and planning.  A marketing plan can help you be structured but how creative you are with it is up to you.  Each campaign you design will be and should be different from the last, even if you are selling the same product or service.

9.    Marketing is structured logic.
Viewing a plan on paper or other media gives you the ability to see the structure and the logical flow of what you are attempting.  This is a very important if not the most important aspect of why any business should have a marketing plan.  Any one can think up a plan of action, but will they see the big picture?  If so will the big picture make sense.  A marketing plan provides insight into the end result of what you are trying to achieve and may show alternatives and logical links that you may not have foreseen without a plan.  No matter how much fun you may have with your business, it still has to be orderly and organized.

10.    The world is a market.
Just about everything deals with marketing in one aspect or another.  When you apply for a job, your resume is you marketing plan because you are marketing yourself.  Your personality is a marketing tool when you are meeting and networking with people.  You market your morals and values to everyone in your sphere of influence by showing people what you stand for and who you are.  Marketing is a key factor of human interaction.  It is part of the rules of the game that you should learn to play well if you intend to survive and reach your goals.
