Possibility Of A Time Machine (2)

After a long period of time I have started writing again to complete my incomplete thoughts. In the earlier part of this article, I have explained the conventional theories or ideas of a “Time Machine”; possibly the one and only well-known machine, which has no physical appearance yet. Till now this is just an idea or a headache to some great theorists and scientists.

Let me come to my point. According to my view of several scientists’ theories, “Time Machine can be made but it will be different from the conventional theories of “Time Machine”. We can send and receive data to and from future. That means we can be connected with future but not with the past. If you know about the fact that we always see several things of their past position being staying in present; you will also understand my point of view too. Ok, just think about the fact that how we see stars? Where are they when we see them? You may find some clues.

Let’s use our head to find out some clues but not the “Time Machine”. First of all think about how we see things. Without lights we can see nothing. Only when the reflections of lights come to our eyes, we can see things in it’s own shape and color. But it also varies according to the abilities of our eyes and also with the varieties of lights. But my point lies in the distance of things that we are looking to. As it is well known to us that light has its own speed of transmission, those reflected lights that come out from things situated at varied distance took different times to reach in our eyes. But these differences don’t make any sense to our eyes and we consider that things are in their own position where we are watching them. Actually, it happens when we are looking at anything of a great distance like stars.

For your kind information, light’s speed is 1,86,000 mile/sec and a light year means the distance that light can cross within a year. If a star’s distance from you are 1 light year then how much time does it took to reach the reflection of lights to you? The answer is 1 year. And these reflections of lights are a continuous process. If our eyes are directed to those reflections then we can see stars and if not we cannot. Sometimes some greater source of lights and other obstacles doesn’t allow us to see those things or reflections of lights too. So, according to these logics, we can only see the reflections that comes out a year ago continuously and that means, we are watching that star in it’s past position. Though it seems to us that we are watching it at present but it’s the position of 1-year back. And if the star is moving then is it in the same place where we are thinking?

Maybe these are complex ideas but I have tried my best to explain these in a lucid language. Now, if you understand the matter that how it is possible to see a thing in its past position then I can continue with my final statement. Too much discussion may seem to you boring. So. I would complete it in the next blog named “Possibility of A Time Machine (3)”.

Possibility of A Time Machine (1)

Though the desired greatest invention of science named “Time Machine” has not yet been invented but, whenever we hear this name; some different glimpse of its type and function comes in our mind so easily. The possible reason behind these types of idea in our mind is due to the impression of several movies based on the theme of “Time Machine”.

Among those several movies we can find the variation of thoughts about its design and working method but one thing is clear to all that this is such a machine, which let us, go beyond the time. One can reach in the past or future through this machine. But all of these are nothing but just mere ideas or thoughts. Scientists have got the idea in mind that there is a possible option of going in future or past but they don’t even know how it is possible. But the main idea of inventing a “Time Machine” is still moving in the core of their thinking thoughts. If it is invented, it will be the ever greatest or the ever-worst invention of science, as we know very well that it can be used both for the good and harm of humanity according to the intension of its user.

I will continue my point of view in details to my next blog titled “Possibility of A Time Machine (2)”. Before that, just think about the fact that how we see stars? Where are they when we see them? You may find some clues.

The Many Uses Of Vehicle Tracking Systems

Are you experiencing vehicle tracking problems with your service, delivery, or transportation business? Are you a worried parent that wants to check up on the location of your teen once in a while? With a tracking system, you will be able to monitor the real-time locations and movements of your vehicles at any time.

Vehicle tracking defined

Vehicle tracking is the monitoring of location of a particular vehicle with the use of electronic devices. Usually, an electronic tracking device is installed in the interior of a vehicle which enables the owner or even a 3rd party to get the vehicles’ location. Many systems mix a communications item like a cellphone or a satellite transmitter to pass along the vehicles’ whereabouts to a user far away.

Active and passive tracking compared

Vehicle tracking has several kinds. They are typically classified under “passive” or “active.” A passive device stores GPS location, the speed, and the heading. Data is then downloaded later to a reliable computer for the purposes of evaluation. Passive devices also have auto downloads that move data via a wireless system. Active devices, on the other hand, compile the same bits of information but instead of storing the information for download later, they transmit all the data virtually or in actual real-time through the use of a cellular or some networked circle of satellites to a central database.

Uses of tracking systems

Tracking systems are often installed and utilized by various fleet operators. They use the tracking systems to help them in routing, dispatching, and many other functions, including (but not limited to) on-board gathering information and monitoring security. Tracking systems can also be used to collect driving behavior, and for reliable prevention of theft and retrieval. With a GPS device on-board the vehicle, it is very easy for the police to locate the vehicle suspect of being stolen. Some devices can even double as a car alarm.

Tracking systems—a key component of vehicle security layered theory—is recommended strongly by security agencies. The approach states that there should be at least four (4) layers or piles of security grounded on risk management aspects of an exact vehicle. Having a tracking system in your vehicle fulfills one of these layers.

Another use of tracking systems is in the domain of service management in the field. Companies that provide services including routine repair and key maintenance usually have a large amount of employees circulating their service areas at any given time. It is important to plan a field worker’s schedule in order to operate at high levels of efficiency. Vehicle tracking gets in you in the position to make accurate travel time estimations to plan your schedule better.

Salesmen also benefit from vehicle tracking. Mobile salesmen can use their systems to get data on locations in real-time. In unfamiliar locations, they can spot themselves, and even where customers, prospects, and appointments are. The result is an amplified level of productivity, curbed travel time, and increase time spent doing actual business.

It is clear how vehicle tracking can greatly improve the efficiency of your business or the quality of your personal life. What better way to organize the operation your business or home than with an electronic map that shows the location of your vehicles at any point in time.

The Benefits Of Implementing A Fleet Management System

Almost any business can benefit from some form of fleet management. Almost all businesses use some form of transportation, whether it is a company car for employees to use to get to appointments or a fleet of trucks to transport products. The process of purchasing, keeping track of, and maintaining these vehicles can be a time-consuming process, and for large fleets, it can be complex. Here are some benefits of implementing a fleet management system:

Track your vehicles

The most basic component of any fleet management system is to be able to track all your vehicles at any given time. This is done with the use of a GPS system or a cellular triangulation system. By being able to track your vehicles you can see if they are where they’re supposed to be and if they’re on-time.

GPS, or Global Position System, is a system that can determine the location of a vehicle by locating a tracking device whose position is recorded at regular intervals. Data is usually stored in the tracking unit or transmitted to a central database in real-time.

Vehicle diagnostics

Some fleet management systems have vehicle diagnostic capabilities. By connecting to an on-board computer, you can keep track of information such as mileage and fuel consumption. This capability can help you do your accounting more accurately, and can help you optimize the size of your fleet. You can even profile your drivers using the information from the vehicle tracking system and the on-board computer.

Fleet management software

Usually, fleet systems will incorporate some type of software to perform a series of tasks. These tasks can encompass all operations from vehicle acquisition to disposal. These include tasks such as driver/vehicle profiling, trip profiling, dispatching, vehicle efficiency, etc. Software applications can help you work faster, be more efficient, and make fewer mistakes.

Security and control

The more advanced fleet management systems have a security component that can control your vehicles while stopped. This gives you the ability to disable your vehicles if they are not in operation. This is particularly useful when vehicles are stolen or taken of course by rogue drivers. It also helps to reduce the chance of lost or stolen goods.

Remote vehicle disabling systems allow you to disable an engine, prevent vehicle movement, and stop or slow down a moving vehicle from far away. You can decelerate a vehicle by downshifting, limiting throttle capability, or bleeding air from the braking system.

Replacement and lifecycle management

In order to optimize your fleet system, it is important to know the lifecycles of each vehicle so that you know when to buy new vehicles and when others need to be retired. The industry standards for the lifecycles of vehicles are produced annually by Mercury Associates, Inc., and are used to calculate the replacement dates and funding requirements of your vehicles.

It is easy to see how a fleet management system can organize your fleet system and make your business more cost-efficient. Just the tracking ability alone is priceless, let alone the security and control capabilities. If you want to know more, you may browse through dozens of companies online that offer fleet management services.

Internet marketing Strategy: Long term and Short term

Just as in any other form of marketing and/or business, devising effective strategies and executing them to perfection holds the roost. Internet marketing is no exception to this. People interested in internet marketing should, therefore, always aim at strategic internet marketing, which is the pathway to success on the world of web. Many people, experts included, often state that internet marketing is a very hard domain. That barely is the fact once you know the rules of the game and have a solid strategy to back you up. There are innumerable processes into which we can break down the total aspect of internet marketing. Nevertheless, as it comes to planning strategies, they can be of two types – the long-term strategies and the short-term strategies.

Short term strategy

After you have spent a lot of time as well as toil in building your own website, you may be thinking – ‘what next’? Perhaps it is the ideal time for you to opt for a good and effective short-term internet marketing strategy. The best strategy in this regard is the pay-per-click marketing technique. In order to be party to the pay-per-click campaign, all you need to do is place your advertisements on the search result pages of the various search engines such as Google, Yahoo!, MSN, etc. For this, you have to register with the Pay-per-clicks, build your own keywords, and devise advertisements using those keywords. Overture and Google Adwords are amongst the best platforms for PPC.

There are several reasons that make the PPC technique such a great short-term internet marketing strategy. The first and rather obvious reason is that this enables huge traffic generation to your site immediately. That is undoubtedly one of the main aims when you are into internet marketing. This technique also enables you to assess how capable your website is in converting the web traffic into bankrolls. In case the conversions are way below your expectation, you can always opt for modification of the site and wait for good feedbacks.

Long-term internet marketing strategy

Once you have seen your site through the initial phases and it is already running for sometime now, it is time you opted for some solid long-term strategies. And, the obvious tool in this regard is SEO or search engine optimization. Now, what actually is this SEO and how is it related to internet marketing? Let us explore.

SEO or search engine optimization, in simple terms, refers to activities that lead to high rankings for your website in the search engines such as MSN, Yahoo!, and Google. There are several factors involved with SEO and to discuss about it will require a lot of space and time. Any way, one of the prime reasons why SEO is considered the ultimate long term strategy in internet marketing is the fact that it often takes a good deal of time to get one’s site high in the rank page. It becomes even more time consuming when your key word is highly competitive. However, you cal also climb up the ladder in quite less time. Again, that depends on factors such as how well can you build the links, etc. Whatever the case be, whezn you are aiming at internet marketing for a long time to come, SEO is obviously what you should aim at.

IM photos and videos from phone to phone

Fring logo

If IMing friends from mobile to mobile is faster and cheaper than sending SMS messages, then IMing photos, videos, and music clips is even better.

Fring announced this week an update to its Symbian 9.1 and Symbian 9.2 offerings (sorry, Windows Mobile) that lets registered members swap files. This is the first I’ve heard of file-sharing from any mobile IM service, though saving the best perks for members is common to others, like EQO, that have far grander ambitions than simple all-in-one chat.

Swap photos, images, and music with fringShare photo and videos files with fring friends.

Much like file-sharing from desktop chat apps, fring (it really is lower-case) files ride the Wi-Fi, 3G, GSM, GPRS, or EDGE wave between phones, but for fringsters only. Fring will ferry files over to the computer, too, via an Internet connection and MSN. Fring’s neat, attractive offering clearly shows the direction in which mobile phones are headed–away from syncing, MMS, e-mailing a file to a middleman uploading service, and pushing media to a Web site. Though fring doesn’t yet offer any of those forms of mass socializing, it does share media on an exclusive, individual level that’s a good choice for users who prefer their privacy, and who can also convince their friends to use one more social service.

If that’s not enough fringing for you, fring friends can stalk you through a fringME! widget you embed on a Web site, blog, or profile, which will disclose your whereabouts and give buddies

Power Downloader eliminates distractions with Dark Room

Power Downloader(Credit: CNET Networks)

Power Downloader knows one of the most difficult things about studying and writing papers is staying focused. When he received a stressed out e-mail from Kitty Kilobyte recently saying she was trying to write a paper for school, but kept getting distracted, Power knew all too well what she was talking about. Even when Power Downloader needs to get to work, he will sometimes find himself surfing the Web or checking e-mail, so he knows how easy it is to get distracted. Over time, Power is sure Kitty will develop the skills necessary to focus on her work, but for now he decided would try to find her the perfect tool to stay focused.

After some searching at Download.com, Power Downloader came upon a little textpad application called Dark Room. While the program is not particularly strong on features, it does one thing very well: it eliminates distraction. With Dark Room on her computer, Kitty would be able to write her paper without the usual distractions of her computer’s desktop. Dark Room would let Kitty write in full screen with a black background so all the chat notifications, e-mail alerts, and other distractions are conveniently hidden out of view. If she didn’t like the default black background, she could switch the background color, the text color, and the font, all in the Dark Room options. Playing with some … Read more

Microsoft has been quietly readying several Service Packs for its operating systems. Windows Vista SP1 has undergone several public release candidates, but CNET Reviews’ Rob Vamosi got his hands on a copy of the real deal, not due out until March. The verdict? You’ll have to click through to find out.

CNET News.com’s Ina Fried got word of private beta testing of Windows XP SP3–that’s right, I said Service Pack 3. Although it’s nearly six months away from being ready, Microsoft promises that SP3 will contain the usual security fixes, but no word on whether it will introduce any major overhauls, like Windows XP SP2 did.

That could indicate Microsoft will not be abandoning its old workhorse anytime soon, or it could also be a last fling to keep Vista-haters happy until Redmond figures out what direction it wants to take its operating systems in, as they bleed market share to Apple’s OS X and various Linux flavors.

About five years ago I installed the family version of Symantec’s Norton Internet Security software on one of my PCs, rendering the machine unusable. Not only couldn’t I get any access to the Internet, it was impossible to uninstall the program. I ended up having to reinstall the operating system and all my applications–except Norton Internet Security. At the time I said I would never again install a Symantec security program on any PC, but about a year ago I bought a PC that came with 90 days of Norton 360, and the program won me over. When the free trial period was over I even coughed up $80 for a year’s subscription. Apart from the frequent nags about my need to back up (I prefer to use my own manual backup strategy), I’m happy with the Norton 360.Now the other side of the coin: I’ve used CheckPoint’s ZoneAlarm firewall–both the free and pro versions–for many years, and on many different PCs. The program would occasionally prevent a legitimate program from performing some operation, but on those rare instances I merely shut the firewall down long enough to complete the task, and then turned it back on. No problem.

Firefox Mobile could be invisible

Firefox Mobile prototype 2-7-08

A few days ago, two prototypes of Firefox Mobile, the latest bun in Mozilla’s oven, made it onto the Mozilla wiki. Today Firefox Mobile product manager Doug Turner released two more designs.

Turner’s team didn’t scrap the toolbar entirely, but based on user feedback, they did make it much less intrusive. Why look at the buttons when users really want the Web, they reasoned. Letting the toolbars dissolve away when they’re at rest is one method for making the most of the screen. Tapping a translucent icon (shown solid here) could bring the command buttons back.

Other remedies include sealing up a variety of security holes, including browser history and navigation stealing, holes related to multiple file inputs, and URL token stealing.

Spyware Horror Story

Published by Elissa; Michigan, U.S.

Shortly after a nasty custody battle erupted with my network-hobbyist ex-husband, my once efficiently reliable technological life mysteriously spiraled literally out of my control. Suddenly all tools upon which I had relied, as a 5-year veteran remote-based sales person, ceased normal function. Subtle changes to fonts and settings followed restricted permissions and aggravated my connectivity. Disabled features suddenly enabled themselves and I could not click them back to normal. Calls to tech support offered no solution, especially since “it doesn’t seem to be a problem impacting the PC,” ended the troubleshooting. As the situation worsened, phone calls dropped, voice mails disappeared, and e-mails did not go through. I lost administrator privileges to access certain key words online. Hours spent writing summary reports resulted in blank or lost documents, each mishap sharing only one common variable: relative importance to the custody battle or my personal life.

Anyone who has shared a computer with a roommate, family member, or co-worker knows it’s pretty hard to keep everything organized. But beyond having separate user accounts or personal folders, some data you have on your hard drive just isn’t meant to be seen by other users. Whether it’s your personal account numbers, journal entries, or other private files, a secure place to store items on your shared computer is necessary for your privacy.

A while ago I found a great Windows app for creating secure volumes called TrueCrypt. This open-source (free) program offers up multiple levels of security and several different types of encryption. It’s so secure that if you forget the password to your encrypted volume, you might as well just trash it. Not even your favorite computer-fixing buddy down the hall in your dorm can crack this code…seriously. Just to give you an idea, TrueCrypt uses encryption algorithms AES-256, Blowfish (448-bit key), CAST5, Serpent, Triple DES, and Twofish, or just about any combination of these methods. Don’t worry, I don’t know what all that means either, but TrueCrypt offers a wizard taking you through a step-by-step process explaining how to create secure volumes, how to select your encryption type, and how to create a secure password.

Peer-to-peer file-sharing generally involves free software, and much of the technology is certainly still legal in the United States (for now). However, once you start trading copyrighted material like music and movies, that’s where legal problems arise. If you’re trafficking, uploading or downloading copyrighted digital material without consent of the owner, you are infringing. You are also risking the possibility of massive penalties, more if the work in question has not yet been released. This weekend, a company called Qtrax made a big splash by announcing “the world’s first free and legal peer-to-peer digital music site.” It turns out that line of marketing nonsense was only the beginning of the company’s misdirections.

Just about every computer available these days comes with a CD/DVD burner as part of the package. Whether your primary use for this drive is to make mix CDs for the car, backup data, or burn DVD backups for your movies, you need a good program with the right type of features for the job. Though Windows offers some burning features, you’re not going to get the options you’ll find in a stand alone app.

There are many paid CD and DVD burning apps to choose from and some of the most popular in this category–like Nero and Alcohol 120%–are probably recognizable by most Download.com users. The only prohibitive trait about these apps (besides cost) is usually they take up too many system resources and offer superfluous features that you may not need for simple burning.
